The Radical Notion

Encouraging women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians

On Appeasement April 1, 2009

Today, we have two recent examples of political appeasement – one in Afghanistan, and one in the United States. In the U.S., Kansas governor Kathleen Sebelius, who is nominated to head the Department of Health and Human Services, has signed into law a bill passed in the Kansas legislature, restricting women’s abortion rights (via).

As far as fetal ultrasound mandates go, I think Twisty says it best:

Because stupid ignorant women apparently don’t have the slightest idea what pregnancy is; they need this vital information, available only through a medical procedure, about what is really going on in their lady-ovens. If they are given the opportunity (i.e. forced) to endure a fetus-screening (”Here’s baby’s precious little beating heart, here’s his adorable little brain stem …”), they will see the error of their ways and comply with the godbag mandate to shut up and be punished for the sin of fornication by incubating to term, followed by a lifetime of child-rearing drudgery.

[…]For a woman seeking an abortion, this weepy ultrasound intervention, like most state and medical interference in private lives, is wildly inappropriate. It’s nothing but pressure to conform by shaming the woman into a culturally-mandated response. No “information” is imparted, only social cues. The only possible rationale behind any […]anti-abortion bill is to make abortion as inconvenient, shaming, and difficult as possible.

“Pro-Life” Myth No. 2: “Choice” is a dirty word January 18, 2009

Are you outraged? Are you inflamed with the fires of righteous anger? Are you duly vexed?

What do you mean, you’re not?

No, I’m not talking about the inauguration or either of the pastors speaking at it (the gay one or the one that hates gays – hi, Rick!). I’m talking about the doughnuts. The abortion doughnuts. The deep-fried wonders that are, even as we speak, terminating the pregnancies of any and all pregnant women they see with their glazed little eyes, and the organization that is enabling them to do so – Krispy Kreme [shudder]. Makes me sick (So much more than that Campbell’s Soup ad did a couple of weeks ago).

You don’t believe me? Hear it from my Supreme Overlord, Judie Brown:

Washington, DC (15 January 2009) – The following is a statement from American Life League president, Judie Brown. “The next time you stare down a conveyor belt of slow-moving, hot, sugary glazed donuts at your local Krispy Kreme you just might be supporting President-elect Barack Obama’s radical support for abortion on demand – including his sweeping promise to sign the Freedom of Choice Act as soon as he steps in the Oval Office, Jan. 20.

So, there you go. And if you still don’t believe me – read it for yourself. (more…)

Denial isn’t a river in Africa, just because I said so! December 19, 2008

I’ll tell you, there is nothing like a good defense mechanism to expose someone’s secret, somewhat pathetic, inner workings.

Take denial. Say you are confronted with direct and incontrovertible evidence that something bad has happened – for example, the Federal Department of Health and Human Services has passed a rule making it easy for any Joe Six Pack with a health care-related job and a dream of inflicting his morals upon someone else to do so with complete impunity. You, being (at least ostensibly) a fairly reasonable person*, fully agree that if this were to happen, it would be disastrous. But it didn’t. So stop worrying! Silly girl.

Wait, what?

If I may… (more…)

So, I’m sorry that I haven’t been posting as much. I kind of got election fatigue – thousands of posts a day about omg McCain said this and Obama did that and Palin is an idiot and Biden had a face lift can be really draining. However, today is the last (hopefully last?) day of all that, as by this time tomorrow we should know who is the next President-elect.

Should know. That is, if the countless reports of vote tampering, roll purging, defective machines, Bradley effects, long lines, Republican misinformation about polling dates, and the forces of Satan himself don’t come to fruition. But hey – I’m not worried. Don’t worry about me, as long as Obama wins. If he doesn’t, I may need to retreat to an undisclosed location for some time.

Of course, lots of things have happened since I last posted. Sarah Palin got punk’d, Obama put out a long infomercial, everybody and their sibling has been on SNL, Elizabeth Hasselbeck has been idioting it up over on The View, and conservatives at my school are whining because they feel underappreciated. If I even attempted to cover all that, it would be ridiculous (plus, you know, all the important things that I left out). So here’s what I’m going to do. (more…)

Shameless Linkage October 2, 2008

So, this week’s crunch is over, to be followed by a slightly smaller crunch in the beginning of next week. But for now, I am scot-free! So expect bloggage out the wazoo – most notably tonight, where as last week Experience will debate The Fresh Face of Change.  Only this time, it’s reversed. It promises to be awesome.

Of course, while I have been neglecting my no-doubt faithful readers, many others in the blogosphere have not, so with your indulgence, I’d like to link to a bunch of posts from the past week or so that I’ve found very illuminating, insightful, surprising, or worthwhile, for your general edification. I realize that this is somewhat lazy on my part, and I will start writing my own things momentarily, but I really want to give props to some of the bloggers out there, and also point out these posts that some people will undoubtedly not have read.

Drumroll, please…

A terrorist act committed mostly or exclusively by Muslims makes all the headlines, but apparently terrorism targeted specifically at Muslims is not worthy of mention.

I couldn’t find the following story at any of the major news sites (MSNBC, CNN, FOX); a Google search turned up nothing either in the way of national media, save for the omnipresent Blogs.

Chemical irritant empties Islamic Society of Greater Dayton’s mosque

Update: Islamic Society baffled by incident at worship service

DAYTON — Baboucarr Njie was preparing for his prayer session Friday night, Sept. 26, when he heard children in the Islamic Society of Greater Dayton coughing. Soon, Njie himself was overcome with fits of coughing and, like the rest of those in the building, headed for the doors.

[…]

Njie was one of several affected when a suspected chemical irritant was sprayed into the mosque at 26 Josie St., bringing Dayton police, fire and hazardous material personnel to the building at 9:48 p.m.

Someone “sprayed an irritant into the mosque,” Dayton fire District Chief Vince Wiley said, noting that fire investigators believe it was a hand-held spray can.

According to fire dispatch communications, a child reported seeing two men with a white can spraying something into a window. […]

The 300 or so inside were celebrating the last 10 days of Ramadan with dinner and a prayer session, but the prayer session was interrupted so those suffering from tearing, coughing and shortness of breath could receive treatment.

[…]

“It’s very disturbing,” Sabagh said. “Something like this has never happened before.”
